Rational and respectful breeding
To breed our bees, we use hives based on the INPA system for stingless bees, later developed by Professor Walberto Loriga Peña for our Meliponas Becheeii bees. Small adjustments were made to the dimensions and two types of hives were developed
Each hive consists of three levels (from bottom to top)
- 1. The Nido (nest) is the main breeding area.
- 2. The Sobrenido (nest above) is where the brood chamber develops and where the colony stores its reserves.
The sobrenido is also the division module. - 3. Las Alzas Mieleras (honey room) are the modules for harvesting both honey and bee bread.
This design allows for careful extraction of surplus honey without disturbing the heart of the nest. In addition, it facilitates simple reproduction: by exchanging the second full nest of a strong hive with an empty one from another hive, the worker bees naturally raise a new queen without artificial intervention.
In this way, we promote a healthy and natural life for the bees, while facilitating honey production and colony multiplication
